Numbers of deaths for 2000 and previous years to 1998 are based on ICD-9 coded data adjusted to ICD-10. For circulatory disease and cancer recoding means that the data comprising the 1999-01 and 2000-02 averages are not strictly comparable and should be treated with caution.
