• The register refers to individual CCJ records rather than to persons or households. As a result it is possible that several CCJs may have been recorded against the same person during the period under review. Similarly, it is possible that a single CCJ may be taken out against more than one person where the debt is considered to be a joint or shared responsibility.
• Debts relating to individual businesses or commercial concerns have been excluded from this dataset.
• Every effort has been made by the RTL to ensure that these data do not allow the identification of individuals. To protect confidentiality, cells with low counts or dominant contributors have been suppressed.

In all cases the figures refer to judgments taken out against individuals for outstanding personal debts of 1pound or more.
