Notes

The information is based on data collected from 549 FE providers covering general further education colleges, school sixth forms, external institutions and other types of learning establishments. While courses designed to provide basic skills, including Skills for Life, access to higher education and university for industry (UfI) are included, the work being undertaken by adult and community learning establishments is excluded. In addition, no account has been taken of the data currently collected for dance and drama providers as this has not always been available. There are approximately 15,000 different aims (qualifications) covered including: GCE A/AS/A2 level; GCSE; GNVQ precursor, GNVQ/AVCE, NVQ, Additional NVQ/GNVQ; Access to Higher Education (HE), HNC/HND; and ONC.
