The indicator excludes emergency bed-days with the following Primary diagnosis codes - A00-B99, relating to infectious and viral diseases. O00-Q99, relating to abortion and complications and abnormalities arising in labour, delivery and the neonatal and perinatal periods. External cause codes - V01-V99, relating to vehicular accidents. |
Background information |
Methods for population weights at LA level are still to be confirmed. Existing methodology for weighting for PCTs is consistent with the DH resource allocation: weighted capitation formula (population weighted for age and need). |
