Data highlights

Mortality from key causes

A range of data relating to mortality from key health conditions has been published on the NHS Indicator Portal. These indicators provide age standardised death rates and estimated year of life lost from a range of key conditions including cancers, circulatory diseases, respiratory conditions and accidents. Data is available down to Local Authority level and covers a range of periods up to 2010.

Unemployment data updates.

Data on the number of people receiving unemployment benefit (Jobseekers Allowance) has been updated for January 2012. These estimates include breakdowns of benefit claimants by age and gender as well as information on benefit flows. For the first time it is also possible to look at unemployment benefit claimant rates against the economically active population rather than the working age population to get a refined measure of the level of unemployment in a locality, excluding those who are not seeking work. In addition neighbourhood statistics have produced two year worth of updates of Jobseekers Allowance claimants by ethnicity.
