Underlying indicators of the Indices of Deprivation 2010

The indicators that underpin the seven domains of the Index of Multiple deprivation 2010 (ID 2010) have been released on the Communities and Local Government website. These indicators allow you to look in more detail at the drivers of deprivation in your area. The majority of the indicators are published at LSOA level and look at a wide range of different aspects of deprivation including people not staying on at school, long-term illness and disability, housing affordability, pollution levels, road distances to key amenities.

Not all indicators used in the ID 2010 have been published, for example there are no indicators published under the crime domain, due to disclosure issues.

Births by ethnicity

The ONS have released data on births by ethnicity, down to Local Authority and PCT level. The baby’s ethnic group is defined by the mother and there are a number of records in each Local Authority where the baby’s ethnicity is not defined. However, this is one of the few dataset releases relating to ethnicity that is published during the 10 year gap between censuses and can provide important information ethnic make-up of the population.
