  • DescriptionThe Index of Multiple Deprivation 2004 (IMD 2004) is the most up-to-date and comprehensive measure of multiple deprivation available. It is an update and reformulation of the Index of Multiple Deprivation 2000. • DescriptionThe report describes the three methods used to derive empirical weights for the Index of Multiple Deprivation. The researchers used a survey approach, a revealed preference approach and a discrete choice experiment which all aimed to identify the 'relative' importance of each of the seven domains of deprivation and use this to assign weights to combine the domains into the IMD.
