About Data4nr.net

The Data for Neighbourhoods and Regeneration site identifies and signposts datasets available for targeting, monitoring, priority setting and performance management at a neighbourhood level.

The emphasis on evidence-based delivery and decision making means that there is an increased need for detailed information on neighbourhood renewal issues. The Neighbourhood Renewal Analysis Division at the Department for Communities and Local Government commissioned this "Data for Neighbourhoods and Regeneration" project to identify and signpost datasets and resources to help local partnerships target and monitor local programmes. This resource is likely to be used by those preparing the Local Area Agreements, LSP coordinators, those working at a neighbourhood level: indeed anyone seeking to get a robust understanding of patterns below the district level. The data and resources highlighted here are therefore aimed at people working on a variety of questions such as:

Note that this website does not hold the actual datasets, instead linking to other websites from which the data is available. All of the datasets and resources signposted from this project cover England, although many of the datasets may also cover Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. For example the Census 2001 highlighted covers only England and Wales (Scotland and Northern Ireland Census data is available from other sources), while the DfES Pupil residence-based education datasets cover only England.

Oxford Consultants for Social Inclusion (OCSI) were commissioned to carry out the study. Outputs from the project include this searchable website of all the datasets, an Excel spreadsheet, and a report summarising the key datasets.

Your feedback and comments

The datasets are updated every fortnight (you can register for an email alert on new and update datasets). We welcome your feedback on the datasets and website, including additional datasets you would like to see highlighted. Please contact us with any comments.
